Precision Manufacturing

Pedro Imaz

Everyday manufacturers must meet strict industry safety standards and produce precision parts, components, and assemblies, delivering durability and reliability. Precision manufacturing means creating parts and components with high accuracy and tight tolerances. This level of precision is essential in the production in the aerospace  industry.

For the aerospace and aviation industry, it is vital to ensure the quality standards of the parts to avoid any kind of failure during the flight.

The choice of CNC machining also depends upon the type of tolerance you require for the product. The parts can be made by precision machining with tight tolerances of ±0.0001’’.

Aluminum is one of the most easily available materials on earth and aluminum alloys are mostly used in aerospace applications because of their machinability and malleability. In other cases where higher strength is desired even with the increase in weight, in those cases, stainless steel, titanium, high-stress alloys, and carbon are used in aircraft applications making it mandatory to create new machining strategies to finalize complex parts successfully.

To make high-quality products with high tight tolerances, the expert CNC operator is required to handle different materials.  Experienced staff can easily machine and shape different materials thanks to new technologies machines producing components of complex geometries with high quality and higher production rates. This is the case of our latest  acquisition in machinery, giving us the possibility of turning and milling, simultaneously in the  same phase to get spheric geometry in only one step in the same machine, letting us  complete the process, from the bar raw material to the finished part with all  the measurable characteristics on its final dimensions.

This new technology solution is also going with an adaptative process control giving us real time axles load transmitted by the tool to the main head of the machine turning this data into critical information to extend life tool as a result of the analysis of the loads suffered by the tools.

Adding to this new concept, the high coolant pressure applied to these new machinery strategies allows us to define the new precision machinery process of the future with two advantages:

1. High Precision characteristics to finish parts, cosmetic and dimensionally.

2. Complete cycles with no human intervention from start to finish.
