Businesses prefer partnering with a reliable contract manufacturer that adheres to project deadlines and meets quality standards while reducing costs, making custom adjustments, and adding value throughout the process.

LaserCAM Fabrication (LCF), a modern sheet metal fabricator, excels at all of these. It adds value by practicing a holistic approach to contract manufacturing. Making parts that meet clients’ specifications, it addresses the entire product lifecycle, from design, precision laser cutting, deburring, press bending, and prototyping to packaging, warehousing, and shipping.

At LCF, the quality of cut and bending is assured by best-ofbreed technology and equipment. It uses the full TRUMPF line of equipment and software, including the cutting and bending machines.

TRUMPF’s laser cutting machine, TruLaser 2030 fiber, with four kilowatts of laser power, facilitates high-quality cut that is valued by clients who want to avoid the need for deburring to retain the satin coat or pre-applied finish on sheet metal parts. With the press brake machine of the same brand, LCF can manufacture parts with a thousandth of an inch bending accuracy.

When clients approach LCF with a metal part or an assembly of multiple parts, which are nearing or ready for production, it uses its estimation software to precisely evaluate the cost and time needed to cut and bend the material.

“Delivering on time is what we always aim to do,” says Miles Long-Alexander, lead mechanical designer at LaserCAM Fabrication.

However, if the part is not production-ready, clients often need small changes to the initial design to make their parts feasible for manufacturing. The LCF team delves into the design aspects, makes necessary changes to the part, and produces a prototype for inspection. Only after ensuring that the first article is fully aligned with clients’ expectations LCF proceeds with the manufacturing, maintaining the same high level of quality and compliance.

It also delivers the finishing services either in-house or via a third-party company.

It ensures the efficient nesting of parts on the steel sheets to minimize waste and realizes further cost efficiency through lightsout manufacturing, avoiding having to pay operators to run the equipment overnight.

Drawing upon its ability to produce metal parts for exacting production-level requirements, it has crafted numerous client success stories. In one instance, it helped a client struggling to meet the demand for their products and seeking to expand their production capacity. LCF produced parts of higher quality on a larger scale for the client and is currently manufacturing many full assemblies for their product lines, working with all types of steel, from 20-gauge up to 3/16-inch steel plate.

Backed by skilled professionals and the most advanced equipment, LCF is poised to compete with larger organizations in the industry. The team manages increased demand by doubling its capacity and running a second shift while working diligently to meet delivery dates. “We have pivoted from primarily contract manufacturing to a three-legged approach, which includes contract manufacturing, product development, and manufacturing consumer products,” explains Long-Alexander.

LCF offers its own premium line of outdoor kitchens with metal construction, powder coat exteriors, and stainless steel interiors. It also offers camping or emergency stoves that burn solid wood and gaseous fuels.

LCF takes pride in its work on government contracts, manufacturing steel-based lockers, filing cabinets, and other storage solutions. The team doesn’t plan to stop there and is pursuing the R&D agenda of innovative products, like privacy phone booths equipped with sound-deadening insulation and forced air ventilation for open-concept offices. These products can be used by both government and private organizations.

Having ‘LCF excellence’ with every product, clients can experience the perfect blend of quality, style, and Canadian ingenuity at every step of the way.
